Mission Trips

Mission is using all of my life to help people discover and experience the availability of the Kingdom of God through the person and work of Jesus. Part of how we walk this out is through mission trips!

We look at our mission trips as short-term experiences with long-term impact, designed to help you practice Jesus’ lifestyle and receive His heart for both our neighbors and the nations.

Mission trips aren’t our idea, they’re God’s idea. Whether you look at the Old or New Testament, God is always calling, inviting, leading, and empowering His people to live a life of mission.

Committing to go on a mission trip isn’t about one week overseas; it’s engaging in a six-month transformative experience. The heart of our mission trips is to help you grow as a disciple of Jesus. From training and raising funds to actually going on the trip, God does something in you as He does something through you.

Every trip is an invitation to practice what it looks like to be a hope carrier. The goal isn’t painting a wall or getting a cool cultural experience; it’s about serving people and becoming a person of love.

Mission Trip FAQs

  • The short answer is, because it’s what God has created, called, and commissioned us to do. We believe a hope carrier is a disciple of Jesus, living on mission to change their world. God created us to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth (Genesis 1:28). God designed us to do good works which He has prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). God has commissioned us to be witnesses in Jerusalem (our city), Judea (our region), Samaria (other nations), and to the ends of the earth (all people groups in every area of life) (Acts 1:8). That’s why we believe that building mission trips and teams is one of our core strategies to be a movement of hope.
  • Each mission trip is designed to be more than a trip you’re on for a week or two – it’s a six-month transformative experience. No matter how long the actual trip is, where we’re going, or who’s participating, the heart of our mission trips is to help you grow as a disciple of Jesus. It’s an opportunity for God to do something in you as He does something through you.
  • Each participant on our trips engages in monthly trainings to learn how to share the gospel, share their stories of hope, memorize scripture, and practice a lifestyle of asking, listening, and responding to the voice of God.
  • During the trip, we will attend a local church service, serve and love our partners in the local church, and look for opportunities to ask, listen, and respond to the Holy Spirit. We pray that God creates moments that lead to movement, inspiring a life of mission. We also love to learn, see, and discover the history and culture of God’s people all over the world. We are all made in His image, so the more we see God’s people, the more we see Jesus.

The vision of the trip always determines the qualifications of the team. The mission is always more important than the experience. Each of our partners have a vision to advance the kingdom of God in their community. That’s why our goal is to build teams that both honor and equip our partners to advance that vision.

There are types of qualifications for a trip:

  1. Actively engaged in a circle or a serve team and giving
  2. Qualifications – Leading a circle or a serve team
  3. Invitation – Team members are personally invited because of unique skills or life experiences necessary to accomplish the vision of our ministry partner

Every year, we’re asking, listening, and responding to what God is doing both in and through our church. We’re also asking God to reveal the right partners and projects that He’s leading us to engage in around the world. There are needs everywhere, so we ask God to show us which projects best advance His rule and reign for the good of others and the glory of God. These are projects built in collaboration with a great partner that advances the kingdom and the vision God has given them to reach their church, city, and country.
