WEEKEND UPDATE

We wanted to let you know that this Sunday we will be pivoting from our prayer practice to give our students dedicated time to focus on our monthly memory scripture. As we’ve gone through month two, we’ve realized that a big portion of our students have not memorized the scripture. As a team, our heart is to see our students succeed, so we want to dedicate this weekend to help them do that.

Our student directors will explain this to the room and then turn it back to you to practice as a pod. To set your pod up for success, please come prepared to help lead through that time. Here some examples of different ways to practice our memory scripture together as a pod:

  • Have everyone stand up and begin reciting the scripture together, then have students sit down when they get to the point they don’t have memorized.
  • Have students listen to the scripture on the Bible app on their phone.
    • Spend time having students record themselves reciting the scripture so they can listen back to it throughout the week.
  • Memory and movement! Walk around the table reciting the scripture (or walk around seven times like the walls of Jericho).
    • Encourage students to go on a walk this week and spend the time declaring out their memory scripture.
  • Go around the table and recite the scripture one verse at a time (one student says one verse, then the next student says the next verse, etc.).
    • To make it a game, keep going around until every student has said every verse!
    • To make it a little more difficult, try sharing one word at a time instead of one verse.
  • Have students pair up and practice with a partner.
    • Encourage them to follow up with their partner throughout the week until they both have it.
    • You can also encourage each student to find a family member to share their memory scripture with.
  • Download the Student Leadership Memory Scripture Wallpaper on your phones from valleycreek.plus.
    • Have students set an alarm on their phones for the same time each day, and tell them to recite their scripture each time the alarm goes off.
