MONTH FIVE | MONTHLY TOPIC RECAP

This Sunday in Student Leadership, we get to engage with Week 1 of our Month Five Training Plan together! This is found on page 87 of your journal. Here are some best practices to help you prepare to lead the discussion this Sunday:

  • Review your notes from the Monthly Gathering and be prepared to share your answers to the questions in the journal.
  • Here are a few follow-up questions to encourage students to dig deeper:
    • What is the Holy Spirit showing you about self-awareness?
    • Do you feel like you are accurately re-presenting Jesus to the lost, lonely, and broken people in your life?
    • Which of the five steps (slow down, be curious, be mindful of others, process with God and leaders, confess and repent) do you want to grow in?
    • Has the Holy Spirit revealed any blindspots in your life recently? What is a next step you can take in that area?
    • What is something that you’ve been coached on in the past? What would it look like for you to grow in that area as we practice self-awareness?
  • Watch the Monthly Topic Recap Video ahead of time so you can leverage it in the discussion.

READING PLAN UPDATE

This year, as a Valley Creek family, we are reading through the historical books of the Old Testament together! We’ve created commentary videos for each Old Testament book that we’re reading through to provide more contexts for you and your students. You can find the commentary videos and reading plan HERE.

We understand that some chapters may be confusing or hard to read for some of our students, so every student has permission to read a chapter of Psalms if they don’t understand the reading plan that day. The heart of our reading plan tracker is to cultivate a habit of engaging God’s Word throughout the week, so we want to provide an easy opportunity for every student to do that!
