Inside Out – 167 Week 2 | 06/14/2020

Starter Question

What one chore at home you wish you never had to do again?

BIG IDEA:

Activate your faith where it matters most.

Summary:

There are 168 hours in a week. If we are honest, this COVID season has revealed that we tend to leave Jesus at the church building in the one hour a week gathering. God wants to be apart of the 167 hours the rest of our week. The gathering shouldn’t be a substitute for our faith, it should be a catalyst for our faith. Jesus wants to be invited into our homes and into the 167 of our week (Colossians 2:6-7).

1. It’s Time To Take Authority¬†

You are invited to activate your faith where it matters most, right where you are now, in your home! Guess where you spend the majority of your time…that’s right, your home. It’s the place where you can be real, authentic, and vulnerable. Who you are at home is who you really are. Joshua of the Old Testament made it clear that in his home he was going to serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15). No matter what the world was going to do, he was going to take authority and make Jesus the center of his home (John 10:10).

Question 1

Who/what have you chosen to serve in your home? In your home, what has the focus, the attention, and the affection of the heart of your family?

2. Having An Active Faith

Having an active faith means just that,¬† it’s active! It’s alive, it’s moving, and it should be a reflection of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 6:10).

ACTIVE FAITH IS:

BEING AWARE OF HIS PRESENCE

– Knowing that He is always with you.

RECEIVING HIS GRACE

– When you fail, knowing that you can run to Him.

SEEKING MORE OF HIM

– Engaging the Scriptures and spending time praying.

SUBMITTING TO HIS LORDSHIP

– Following Jesus no matter what.

ENGAGING IN HIS MISSION

– Making wherever you are an outpost for the mission of God.

Question 2

What aspects of your home look more like the world and what aspects look more like the kingdom of God? What steps can you begin to take to have your home further reflect the kingdom of God?

3. For Everyone At Home

Whether you are a parent, student, married, or single, Jesus has a word just for you. You can look at Scripture to see what He asks of you. You can’t change out there (people, circumstances) without changing in here (your heart).

Group Reflection

Take time as a group and find the Scripture below that best fits each of you in this season and read it out loud.

Parents:

LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH. THESE COMMANDMENTS THAT I GIVE YOU TODAY ARE TO BE UPON YOUR HEARTS. IMPRESS THEM ON YOUR CHILDREN. TALK ABOUT THEM WHEN YOU SIT AT HOME AND WHEN YOU WALK ALONG THE ROAD, WHEN YOU LIE DOWN AND WHEN YOU GET UP. DEUTERONOMY 6:5-7
